Natural Onion Honey Syrup – For Cough & Chest Congestion

It looks like the collage is trying to suggest that red onions can “clean” or “heal” the lungs — images like these often circulate online, but the lung pictures are AI-generated and not medically accurate.

However…

If you want a natural onion remedy / recipe for calming cough, mucus, or congestion, I can give you a safe traditional recipe.

(This does NOT replace medical treatment.)

Ingredients

  • 1 medium red onion
  • 3–4 tablespoons honey (or sugar if you prefer a vegan version)
  • Optional:
    • 1 clove garlic (for stronger effect)
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • ½ tsp grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Peel the onion and cut it into thin slices.
  2. Place a layer of onions in a jar, then drizzle honey over it.
  3. Repeat layers until the jar is full.
  4. Close the jar and leave it 6–12 hours.
  5. The onion will release a natural syrup.

How to Use

  • Take 1 teaspoon every 3–4 hours for cough or sore throat.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
